Entry level models include the OHAUS PR and OHAUS Pioneer PX models. They provide accurate weighing results at an economical price. Well suited to high schools and universities.
The OHAUS Adventurer AX and OHAUS Explorer EX models have advanced features including colour touch screen displays, and the ability to print directly to a USB memory stick.
All analytical balances are fitted with a draft shield, and require a sturdy weighing bench, in a location free of drafts, vibrations and direct sunlight for repeatable weighing results.
Some analytical balances are not fitted with an internal calibration mass which is denoted by an /E after the model number. This means it can only be calibrated using precision external calibration masses, Class F1 or better stainless steel.
The PR and PX models fitted with a calibration mass use a system called InCal. This is a manually activated calibration through the keypad.
The AX and EX models fitted with a calibration mass use a system called AutoCal. Whilst this can also be activated manually as required, its main value is that it calibrates the balance automatically with changes in temperature in the laboratory, and periodically after a certain amount of hours.
Technical Advantages highly recommends purchasing an analytical balance that has a built-in calibration mass, regardless of which manufacturers analytical balance you choose to purchase.
Uses include precision weighing, pipette calibration, standards preparation, formulation, density determination and more.
